Partition "Right before sunset, a cloud passed by the window. Popping out from the clear blue sky like a firm moving sculpture with its orange tones, it caught my attention for minutes seeming like hours. I decided to stand up and move to see it travelling to the corner of the window, trying to catch it in my mind before it eventually scattered." ----------- After sorting my family’s photographic archive, I try to resolve the transition of the family structure by photographing my parents and sisters in the current stage of partition. The work focuses on the passage of time; what fades and what remains. I linger on in the warmth of the past and observe the current growing distance.

The photography is the medium that explains how I think, how I remember and how I imagine. Since we have an idea of the world through our five senses, it's easy to realize that what we experience and see is a pure perception, an image indeed. From this perspective, the photography is what better conveys the message and contains a degree of illusion and emerging realism. in my artistic practice I work with site-specific sculptures that consider imaginary places and embody real places with fictional contexts. The space, the surface and the human body are the subjects of my master project.

"Ik stel me vaak voor dat mijn ouders en ik medeplichtig zijn aan een banale misdaad. Bijvoorbeeld de diefstal van een bronzen klok uit de kerk in Loker. Dan zie ik mijn vader een put graven naast het tuinhuis;links van hem staat een kruiwagen met daarin de klok. Mijn moeder tilt de kruiwagen op en zo valt de klok in de put. Ik neem een schup en dicht het gat dat mijn vader heeft gegraven."

I have created a fictional archive where I look to the people of Cambodia through the lens of cinema of the 1960s. I combined or conflicted the Cambodian film esthetic with elements of the existing historical narrative and its political influences. A piece where history and myth collides.
